Day 303: a drum kit

30.10.14: Junior rocks!! And yes, that is suppose to be Animal next to the Boss...

Yesterday it was a comic book launch day, today it was pumpkin carving day... Hopefully tomorrow I can focus on the sketch of the day...

Day 302: a chimney

30.10.14: another one of these "how can you draw one without the other", you know, like a peg leg without a pirate, pom-poms without a cheerleader, a rainbow without a pot of gold and a leprechaun, Empire State Building without King Kong or a butterfly without its ridire... These things just go together!!!

Congratulations to all the writers, artists and editors for a very successful launch of the first issue of The Cork Horror Comic!!

Day 301: an eyeball

28.10.14: "What do you mean I have to keep going after day 300?!?!?!"

Day 300: a caribou

27.10: Sven and I are amazed that I have reached day 300!! Yes, caribou is an American reindeer and Sven is supposably a Norwegian reindeer... You know, tomeito-tomato...

Wow, three hundred!!! I think I missed those hundred. Still I am amazed at having reach this far. Some of these I am not very happy with, some of them I am. My cousin started something on day 100 and he continued on day 200; he listed his favorite top five. I would love to hear your top five or even which one is the most memorable to you.

My top five of the last hundred are (in no particular order):
Day 280: spilled milk - I just think Jr is so cute in it!
Day 226: a balloon animal - same reason!!
Day 209: cause now it's true...
Day 218: because I didn't think I could pull it off in b/a and I was very happy with the putcome.
Day 237: a spoon - because it is a continuation of day 95 and I just like day 95.

Three weeks to the halfway mark.

Thank you one and all, for show and support. As always, please let me know what you think and see you around for the next three hundred.

Day 299: scrambled egg

26.10.14: in a desperate attempt to NOT draw scrambled eggs, I learned that the term also refers to the typically leaf-shaped embellishments found on the visors of peaked caps worn by military officers, specifically naval ones...(Jon Pay © and ™ 2014)

Day 298: the Leaning Tower of pizza...eh...Pisa

25.10.14: old joke but this one is with some personel details. People who get will get it and I actually miss them as much as you do. For the rest of you, sorry, Charlie's Pizza is closed for business for ever.

Day 297: a laser

24.10.14: it had to be a Star Wars rederence. Amazingly my first one so far and I also want with a character that very few people know about.

Aayla Secura was created by Jan Duursema and John Ostrander for the Star Wars comic. When George Lucas saw the character he decided to  make her a character in the new trilogy. Very few characters has made this transition, making her a unique character in more ways than one. (I hope I get corrected if any of these facts are wrong...) As I have had the pleasure to know Jan and she was actually kind enough to try me out as an inker once upon a time (the closest I have ever gotten to have anything  to do with Star Wars), day 297 goes out to her.

I will also point out that the issue whether or not a lightsaber is a laser, sparked a bit of a discussion between me and some fellow geeks. I decided that it is!! Say I'm wrong!! Come on, say it!!! I dare you!!

Day 296: an ugly duckling

23.10.14: "Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten".

Yes, am most definitely ripping off Chris Sanders here.

There's another really good quote about family from this movie. Anybody know the one I means?

Day 295: a face full of character

22.10.14: a little bit of a departure of style and technique on this one, but every now and then that's good for the soul. Don't think I've done anything like this since day 64, possible day 153, but you be the judge. Are any other pieces you think I have done this differently from my normal style?

Happy halfway through the week, everyone.

Day 294: cheese

21.10.14: I will plead guilty before any points any fingers. A) yes, I did not want to draw a block of cheese and B) yes, the mouse is inspired by Speedy Gonzalez!!

Day 293: a moustache

20.10.14: didn't make this up. Real moustache from real life.

If you are in the Cork area, go down by Lavitts Quay (towards Coal Quay) and check out the two meter high comic book pages by myself and other talented members of the Cork Comic Creators. They look awesome!!

Day 292: a newt

18.10.14: yeah, I know, it makes NO sense...or nonsense... Depending on how you look at it. And you know what, I think I am funny. Or at least I think I think I am funny... Or something like that... The sad fact is that day 209 has now become a reality, so this does make sense to me... (No it doesn't...)

Day 291: chips and dip

18.10.14: double tragedy when the rescue chip breaks in the dip too...

Day 290: toes

17.10.14: you may have to have a four year old who has attended one or two ballet-classes to be farm iliac with the phrase. However, this is what those famous toes look like and results in the question; which side would you be one?!?

Day 288: the little prince

15.10.14: in our house the is only one little prince!!!

Costume is an amalgam of the different costumes I found for the character. However I could not bring myself to give Junior a sword or sable, so, yes, that is a blunt butter-knife...

Day 287: knitting needles

14.10.14: the infamous Wolfgang Manitoba finally shows his face (yes, he was in day 201, but y could see his face properly...) and his IQ...

Day 286: the view from an airplane window

13.10.14: come on, everybody say it with me; ...THERE'S...SOMETHING-ON-THE-WING!!!

Day 285: an open/closed sign

12.10.14: no hidden jokes, lost in translation today. Some bad handling of fonts and hopefully enough storytelling to make you wonder what is actually going on behind this open/closed sign. Hopefully this is not the same poor schmuck from day 10...

Day 284: clogs

11.10.14: this one is for you and me and possible us two who grew up in Norway.  If you get it you know what I'm talking about and if you do, let me know. If you don't get it, I can't explain but please let me know if you like the drawing of a clog sailing down the river...

Day 283: a sound wave

10.10.14: I did not go with A sound wave. I went with THE Soundwave. In other words, another 80s cartoon...

     DECEPTICONS TRANSFORM!!!!

Day 282: a spaceship

09/10.14: there were plenty of options here of both spaceships and space-adventurers but I had to go with this classic. Anything that produces such amazing lines like "he he he, had the sczhilly thsing in reversthe...", "got the drop on you with my disthintegration gun. And brother, when it disthintegratesth, it disthintegratesth...well, whatta yah know, it disthintegrared..." and "i claim this planet in the name of Mars. Isn't that lovely?" is fantastic in my eyes. Now let me hear you all say it; "I am Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a half century!!"

Day 281: molten lava

08.10.14: Jon Pay in trouble again... Is it as bad as day 66? You decide!

Day 280: spilled milk

07.10.14: harsh life-lessons learned...

Day 279: a waterslide

06.10.14: I did not realize that herself had not appeared since day 257 and the two of them last made their presence know on day 248... Guess they were due...

The scary thing with this one is that I really haven't taken that many liberties with this waterslide. Yes, I added the twirly-twirl and backwards-loopy-drop (and those are the technical terms... Kind of...well, at least that's what my daughter calls them...) but the size of the rest is actually a little smaller than the original... I would not go on it!!

Day 278: a circuit board

05.10.14: ah, the useless facts I have learned thanks to this blog. Like the first printed circuit board was created in 1936 by Paul Eisler. Felt that I could not use doctor professor von Fricken-Flicken-Blicken auf Brickenstein (day 218again, just because, when Mr. Eisler fit so perfectly himself. As you could see, I had no problem sending in Jon Pay to the rescue...

Vacation done. Back to work tomorrow...

Day 277: a paper coffee cup

04.10.14: a long day of travel done.  Unfortunately I did not have enough (paper) coffee cups to make up for it...

(All characters © and ™ C. A. Aabø 2014)

Day 276: a frog

03.10.14: I FORGOT TO POST?!?!? The sketch was done two hours ago and I forgot to post?!?!?

Oh well... It time to get this started. There are other famous frogs but who cares?!?

Thursday, October 2, 2014

Day 275: a unicycle

02.10.14: any opportunity to draw Gus being a little crazy, I will take. Any opportunity to draw Mine-Gus from day 58, I will jump at!!! And Mime-Gus on a unicycle defiantly fall in that category!!

Day 274: a bowler hat

01.10.14: another new month. Had to start it with a smile!!

I figured I'd pick up where I left if yesterday. If you want to know about the bullet hole in Frankie Cunzo's hat, you'll have to read Jon Pay, PI: Bullets, Babes & By-lines. A hangman's noose has already been shown but than again so has Frankie's bowler hat (check out day 17)... In fact, a bowler hat featured as early as day 8.

(Frankie Cunzo © and ™ C. A. Aabø 2014)

Day 273: a necktie

30.09.14: the hate-hate-relationship between Jon Pay and "Smilin'" Frankie Cunzo continues. (Other examples can be seen on day 111 and 172 to mention but two...)
