Day 531: spats

15.06.15: had more ambitions than time on this one. Idea born of desperation, how do I draw spats (those white things over Smilin' Frankie Cunzo's shoes... Don't worry, I had to Google too...)and make it exciting. Plus I don't often draw such extreme angles. So the story of the the sealed envelope from day 179, thickens...

Day 461: an ashtray

06.04.15: and just to be perfectly clear, there is nothing bad about whiskey!! Of all medication that doesn't work, whiskey tastes the best!

As for Frankie Cunzo, I honestly can not remember if he smokes or not (the Jon Pay stories are set in the 1930s... EVERYBODY smoked in the 1930s!!!) but he's the one I saw in me head when the line came to me... And all you smokers out there, don't believe the propaganda!! You go ahead and enjoy your coffin-nails...eh... I mean cigarettes...

Day 274: a bowler hat

01.10.14: another new month. Had to start it with a smile!!

I figured I'd pick up where I left if yesterday. If you want to know about the bullet hole in Frankie Cunzo's hat, you'll have to read Jon Pay, PI: Bullets, Babes & By-lines. A hangman's noose has already been shown but than again so has Frankie's bowler hat (check out day 17)... In fact, a bowler hat featured as early as day 8.

Day 273: a necktie

30.09.14: the hate-hate-relationship between Jon Pay and "Smilin'" Frankie Cunzo continues. (Other examples can be seen on day 111 and 172 to mention but two...)

Day 213: a cactus

01.08.14: poor Frankie Cunzo is still not out of the desert since day 72. Question is is it mirage or not this time around...?  (He did also feature on day 17, 20, 111 and 172)

The drawing is late as someone else needed a late drink...

Day 172: sea spray

21.06.14: am hesitant to write more than asking you to judge whether or not I was presenting today's theme...

As it stands Jon Pay is attempting to apprehend "Grinning" Frankie Cunzo after his latest "crime of the century". The showdown just happens to take place at Deadend Pier in the middle of the storm of the century.

     Did I pull it off?

Day 111: worst enemies

21.04.14: okey, I had a tough choice in this one. It was either the Boss and her hated enemy, vegetables, or the above. I went with the above.

And what is the above, you ask... Well, that is Jon Pay facing of his worst enemy Smiling Frankie Cunzo and some if his hoods; Buck-Shot, Tubby, Brick and the Babyface (all from Bullets, Babes & By-lines). Loves drawing these goons, and they will return. Have the script all ready to go, courtesy of Doc Monster!!

     Back to work tomorrow...

Day 17: a full house

17.01.14: ...I am sticking with Gus' shrubbery excuse. In my head, I just saw "Smilin'" Frankie Cunzo (from "Bullets, Babes & By-Lines"), Vito Friscati Jr. and Jon Pay playing cards, and that was that. Love all these characters. Frankie I stole from a friend's sketch book, but when I admitted this to my friend, he has no recollections of ever drawing anyone looking like this, so I guess I am off the hook. Jr was created after reading Disney's Villains book where a lot of the theories behind (you guessed it) Disney's villains are discussed. And Jon... Well, Jon is Jon.... The flappers are just a pair of Jr's random flappers. He never seems to be without them...

As always, thanks for checking in and have a great weekend.
