Day 179: seal
29.06.14: okey, so I pretty much just did what I wanted with this one and it's more of an idea than a a drawing of a sealed envelope. At least there's a story in there...
Been a while since a double page spread so here's the latest!

Day 177: a hamburger
26.06.14: I will probably get in trouble with Pepper for this but there is only one burger and that is Doc Monster's Human-Head Burger!! And the scary thing is he actually does make these!! They give you the meat-sweats, but they are sssooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooo good!!!... Okey, now I'm hungry...

Day 176: a Christmas tree
25.06.14: I am either a month or six months early with this one, depending on who or what it is dedicated to... No matter how you slice or dice it, this one goes out to my Xmas (border-lining on fanatic, not that there is anything wrong with that...) loving wife, and no, I would NEVER mess with the Xmas tree...

Day 175: an umbrella
24.06.14: I know, I know; SO obvious a choice of how to interpret today's theme. I mean, the first thing everybody thinks about when they hear the word umbrella is that tiny explorer guy from day 34 using it as a ship to take his adventures further, am I right? See?!? Everyone was expecting that... Expect me I guess. I just like that little guy. And you just know his story is just packed with amazing adventures!!
I hope you like this one as much as I loved drawing it!!

Day 174: hills and valleys
23.06.13: remember my rule of wanting to tell a story every day? Well, I might have been trying too hard with this one. That being said, I kind of like this one. And you know there's a story in among those hills and valleys!!

Day 173: seaweed
22.06.14: another from my "hit or miss" period, and I'll leave it up to decide which it is. I did enjoy the challange of different seaweeds but I don't think I would wanna be the poor schmo who had to ink this. As always I have tried to put something extra in there, although I am not sure I was obvious enough...
Anyhoo, vacation/maternity leave is done and it's back to work tomorrow. That being said; best wishes for Monday everyone!!
Day 172: sea spray
21.06.14: am hesitant to write more than asking you to judge whether or not I was presenting today's theme...
As it stands Jon Pay is attempting to apprehend "Grinning" Frankie Cunzo after his latest "crime of the century". The showdown just happens to take place at Deadend Pier in the middle of the storm of the century.
Did I pull it off?

Day 170: a basket
19.06.14: a reality check for everyone who thinks I just pull my ideas out of a hat...or a basket!! This is more how it goes. (Should had a clock in the back with midnight, but as it is after midnight and I forgot, I am gonna let you imagine the clock is there!!)
And for the record, I can never seem to be able to do my wife justice when I attempt to draw her... Apologies, honey, if I only started earlier...

Day 169: a warthog
18.06.14: okay, before you think otherwise, I actually really like The Lion King and the song in question. It was just the fact... Well, the idea popped in my head and I found it funny... Sorry... Besides, it think I have seen this done some time before, maybe with the bad guy from Tarzan...
Have not attempted Obelix and Asterix in years. Not to shabby, even if I do say so myself. As for Pumba, don't know if I have tried to draw him ever, but I actually found him relatively easy to draw.
Here's hoping the two sleep tonight...

Day 167: the Sunday paper
16.06.14: I am sure I am stealing this one from Bill Watterson or Norman Rockwell, but have having Tommy "the Kid" Bambino (from Jon Pay; Prizefighters & Knockerbockers as well as day 135 and 152) and his friend Cindy Lou from the orphanage (in Jon Pay, a Christmas Story) enjoying the funny pages of the Sunday paper was what I felt like drawing today!!

Day 166: a pug
15.04.14: another "theme" (like day 23, 24, 50, 74, 85, 101, (106), 112, 114, (121, 128, 130), 133, (141) and 142 (165)) that inspired me to add to the ever-expanding character gallery of Jon Pay and his fellow citizens of Cobb City. Where Charles "the pug" Mastiff came from, I am not quite sure, but I believe it was all right there in the name. Hope you like 'im.
Good night.

Day 165: a horseshoe
14.06.14: with a sign like that you just know that the horseshoe Casino (it is actually the Golden Horseshoe Casino, but I forgot the Golden part...) is crooked and that Ray Fechs and Wolfgang Manitoba (day 128 and 74) will need more than flowers and chocolate to get Lady Luck on their side...
This is one of those ideas that I wish hit me earlier and that I got to spend more time on... BUT sleep is important too...I guess...

Day 163: a football
12.06.14: evidently this one is very fitting today... To me it's just a "fight" I have had every time the word football got mentioned during my years in the States. Why a baseball and a tennis-ball are commenting on the dispute is beyond me...

Day 162: a vampire
11.06.14: I guess this is the result of day 140... At this point you probably think I don't like vampires. This is not true!! Vampires are cool. I just liked this idea and it gave me a chance to "try out" Sensei Sakai's method of portraying the death of a character. The man is a genius!!

Day 161: a ghost
10.06.14: spooky!!
I am sure there are other ghosts for my "generation" but this was the one I thought of. Name that movie, anyone?
Monday, June 9, 2014
Day 159: a sandcastle
08.06.14: first of many drawn with newborn in my arms. And I dare you to tell any 5 year old that this is not a sandcastle!!
Sunday, June 8, 2014
Day 158: a keychain
07.06.14: this was the idea that popped and you KNOW there is a really interesting story before and after...
(Sorry, honey, going to bed now!!)

Day 157: a slinky
06.06.14: the drawing is not my most creative idea but the last few days have been a little hectic. My beautiful, baby boy was born yesterday so I am just satisfied with actually getting something on paper today.
Life is pretty wonderful sometimes, isn't it?
Thursday, June 5, 2014
Day 156: an onion
05.06.14: I will today hide behind "but this is what I was told..." And what I was told is that "...and a bag full of onions!!" is one of the biggest insults one can issue..: so there you go: a lot of curses, bad language and a bag full of onions to you all!!
Wednesday, June 4, 2014
Day 155: a daffodil
04.06.14: this is what happened when I have no idea of what to draw and look for reference and/or inspiration online: if you give a single daffodil (or Genus Narcissus as I usually refer to it as) it is considered bad luck, a bunch will bring good luck and/or prosperity for the next twelve months. It is also considered a sign if friendship and the sign of a fresh start.
But why would Jon Pay offer the Magpie (day 18, 52, 71 and 85... She was do for an appearance, even if she is off camera...) what he is offering her while she's in the slammer? Now, that's an interesting story!!

Day 154: a board game
03.06.14: cause one board game just wasn't enought... Today's challenge: name all 19 games pictured...
Not long now...

Day 152: a newsboy cap
01.06.14: I start a new month by continuing something from last month. I bring back the two characters from day 135; street kid and sometime newsboy Tommy "the Kid" Bambino and once-star-journalist Jack Blayne. It's definitely more interesting than just drawing a newsboy cap.
And for those of you waiting for a news-bulletin, no breaking news as of yet...

Day 151: bacon
31.05.14: I was gonna listen the wife and simply draw a piece of bacon, but as you can see there was a line of protesters at my door...
