Day 641: Your suggestions

     This one is a little different, so just go with it. I suggest you view the 3 minute video first and I will explain there after. You agree? Good. Lets go to video...

     For those of you who did not check in yesterday, I asked for suggestions for what to draw today as I was a day short. (NOT my fault!! I triple check! No missed pages...) As a result I had several suggestion (one here in the blog and a few more on FB). Not wanting to leave anyone out, I came up with the this which somehow incorporated all the ideas. And as I did not have a page to actually draw on, I did a time-lapse while sketching on the iPad. A little different but I am quite happy with the result.

     So a special thank you to Dave, Patti, Frank, Angela and Siobhain for your suggestions. I hope you like the result.

     Tomorrow will be the last posting on this blog and I will shed all my tears then. For now, again, I hope you like my little video that reveals ALL my secrets... And hopefully see you back here tomorrow for Day 642!!

Day 640: a tuba

02.10.15: another perfect Gus moment, where Gus is doing what he does best, being Gus!

     And if you are reading this on posting day, then now it is up to you. The book that promised me 642 things to draw, short-changed me. There are only 641 things to draw. So between now and the next 20 hours, I would like you to suggest thing number 641 (I'll be drawing the last page in the book on Sunday evening.). Keep it simple and don't repeat anything already drawn. I will either randomly pick a suggestion or choose the one that inspires me. Thank you.

Day 628: a mummy

20.09.15: this is really no more than a cover or pin-up idea, but I really wanna go full tight pencils and detail crazy on this Jon Pay sketch. This is way too loose, but that's what happens when I start too late on a school night.

     Anybody, know who I am ripping off here? Is it Don Rosa or Abbott & Costello?!? I know I am stealing this idea from someone, I just don't know who. Do you?

Day 618: a lemon meringue pie

10.09.15: and if there is someone who don't need too much sugar, it would be Gus MacDugal....

     So on day 618 disaster finally struck:

The book started falling apart...The glue of the spin has given up... 24 days before the last page. "Don't worry, she'll hold together...you hear baby, hold together..."

Day 516: a houseboat

31.05.15: first off, happy birthday to both my dad and my sister. Hope you both had a great day!!

     Second off, as I launched the Jon Pay Facebook page over the weekend (https://facebook.com/JonPayPI), I would have been surprised if Jon and Gus didn't somehow work themselves into tonight's sketch. As my penmanship was a little off tonight, I will translate:

Jon:   Gus, I think I'd call that thing a "tent-dingy", not a "houseboat"!!

Gus:   No such thing as a "tent-dingy", boss.

Jon:   Oh, I have to disagree. You are sitting in one!

Day 497: a belt buckle

12.05.15: people always ask me or suggest that I write and draw newspaper strips or one panel jokes. This belt buckle "joke" (along with the pickle "joke") shows why I should not write and draw newspaper strips or one panel jokes... Anyway, drawing Jon Pay and Gus MacDugal as cowboys, just plain fun!!

Day 489: a garden

04.05.15: ...well, sort of... It was an idea that worked in my head but the toothless wonder kept waking up and I lost track of where I was heading with it. Anyway, it was inspired by a garden and the victim of my tiny story is also a garden... And you know there's story in there somewhere... Probably behind the weeds...

     And for those keeping track, we are up to officially eight teeth. We are working on 9-10-11-12 at the very least...

30.04.15: I did it!! I did it!! I drew just the theme, pure and simple! Just a toaster. Granted I drew a 95-years old toaster but a toaster none the less...

Day 484: a skeleton

29.04.15: this is a drawing I've been wanting to draw since I was lucky enough to get a Jon Pay pin-up from the amazingly talented and fellow ex-QB allumni Tom Mandrake. Tom a master of all things horror gave me the piece below which features zombie or walking skeletons or something to either effect. In my head, today's sketch was the next panel showing Gus dressed up for Halloween. So thank you, Tom. Glad I finally get to show off your pinup.

Day 467: a chessboard

12.04.15: seven days of Cobb City!!! Yay!! Not planned...

     This was a running joke I was gonna use in Jon Pay but it never made any sense (which is why it was funny to me, but no one else got it...). I wanted Jon to love chess, just as both (I believe) Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe did, both to not be able to play it. And as it turned out, Jon was also a sore loser... Who knew?!?

02.04.15: I enjoyed this one. Of course, I wanted to decorate each and every wall and corner of the labyrinth. And I have no clue as to who, or what is chasing Jon... Hopefully he can find Gus and get out in one piece...

11.03.15: does it count as a swipe if you rip off yourself? Other than making up some crazy technological diagram of something, this was the best I could come up with tonight. (Oh, and in case you are wondering, it was day 356...)

Day 418: an inner tube

22.02.15: when a unicycle-miming-act goes wrong. Or one more reason miming is dangerous life choice... Oh, and the inner tube is that black thing wrapped around Gus' head, leg and neck.
